Ephesians 1:15-23
In verse 21, Paul writes that Jesus is "far above all rule and authority and power and dominion." That's why I think it cheapens Jesus when politicians use him as a gimmick to get votes.

Ephesians 1:1-10
I'm glad the writer focused on verse 1 today because it brought to my attention that Paul isn't writing to a wayward church here, he's writing to encourage the "faithful." It's important to set aside time for encouragement, not just admonishment.

Matthew 13:1-16
I am bothered by verses 11-15, which seem to suggest that the gnostics were right: the kingdom of God is not available to everyone, only the select few who can interpret the secret. But then I realized that I hold the key to the secret in my hands. By reading the Bible, I can know what Jesus said, and I am let in on the secret of this parable, a secret no longer. I'd like to think that anyone can develop "ears that hear," provided they have the correct growing conditions.
