Mark 7:24-37
I admire this woman's willingness to press her case even in the face of insults. She doesn't let her social status (or lack thereof) stand in the way of her daughter's healing, and I believe that's what Jesus intended to show those around him when he rejected her initially.

Psalm 30
Sometimes I find it hard to relate to the Psalms. I've never had any enemies who wanted to destroy me (at least, none that I knew of). Neither I nor anyone in my family is suffering from a serious illness, for which I am thankful. But it's good to be reminded that those things are out there and that God has mastery over them. Besides, verse 5 is one of my favorites, applicable to sorrows big and small: "Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning."

Mark 4:35-41
The DBD writer for this month has done an excellent job making these verses come to life, as he's done every day. I don't know that I have much to add.

I have been told that I don't worry enough. Like Jesus in this passage, I can sleep through a storm. So I think the lesson here for me is Jesus' statement about faith, where he admonishes the disciples for not having enough. Too often I second guess myself or give up too easily. Faith works when it's strong and tenacious.
